The place to cross the border if you want to take the ferry across the Magellan Strait towards Rio Gallegos, passing through Chilean territory. Beware that the next 200 km more or less consist of gravel, so try to make it to the ferry by daylight if you can. Friday there can be some waiting time as trucks with electronic goods assembled in nearby Rio Grande try to make it across the border, as they can normally not pass through customs during weekends. Also be aware that as a non-Argentinean you need a special permit in your rental car to be able to cross any border and leave Argentina, so ask for this at the rental agency beforehand if you plan on going to Tierra del Fuego overland. The next door petrol station is also your last possibility for fuel so make sure to fill up.
