The collection of the 2 Museums: Fine Arts and MAC began to be formed in 1931, with the prizes that entered during the First Municipal Art Hall, organized by the Municipal Commission of Fine Arts, created a year earlier. This first room is held in the White Room of the Municipal Palace, there was no museum or a space for him. That same year, on August 2, the Museum of Fine Arts was created, as proposed in the ordinance that had led to the creation of the hall. Enrique Cabré Moré, director of the Municipal Commission of Fine Arts was also director of the recent museum and its headquarters was established in 54 Belgrano street. During these first years the collection was armed with the prizes of the salons, with donations from artists or collectors and with some works that the museum bought with money that had been donated. The first works to enter the collection were three paintings and one sculpture, the four were prizes acquisition of the First Hall. "Casas" by Juan Carlos Miraglia, received the first prize; "Puente de Viedma", by Domingo Pronsato, the second, and "Día de sol en Patagones", by Roviere Maldini, the third. In sculpture, a single acquisition prize was awarded and went to Manuel Mayer Méndez, with "Cabeza de niña". In 1995, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) was created in the house María Luisa de Sarmiento 450. His first exhibition was the 1st National Exhibition of Engraving and Experimental Printing Techniques. A year later the Biennial of Art is created, in its regional and national version, replacing the traditional hall. In this way, the collection is diversified, languages \u200b\u200bare expanded and facilities, photographs and objects, among others, are introduced.
