I never thought I would dislike a library, but this library is run very inefficiently, to the point I very much dislike it. My experience at this public library in Salta has led me to conclude that maybe checking out books to take home is not common here in Argentina. The renewal rules are strange - you are only allowed to renew the books in person and after the first renewal, the check out time is reduced, for no apparent reason. There are no weekend hours, so it is impossible to return books on the weekend, but if you books are late, the weekend days are counted toward your late fee. Therefore, 3 books due on Friday but returned on Monday costs you three days instead of one. Finally, if you try to renew or return your books, expect the process to take at least 2 hours. Sometimes there is no one at any of the stations to help you. I had to leave the library without being able to renew or return my already late books due to nobody working at the stations. Besides that, if there happen to be employees at their station, they dont seem to know what they are allowed to do, so they send you to other stations which then send you back to the original station. You end up having to say "but they told me to come to you" at least 3 times at at least 3 different desks.
