Red Point was one of the most popular software stores that commercialised video games for microcomputers in Argentina. They operated between the end of 1987 and mid-1995, and specialised in the MSX platform over their early years before the PC was widespread. Owned by Engineer Osvaldo Destefanis and empowered by the technical knowledge of José Alberto Santillán (a.k.a. Beto JAS), Red Point implemented a proprietary file format known as ITM, which was named after their own copy tool: The legendary Intermega. This file format was used to bundle "bloadable" binaries built up from ROM dumps into ITM files secured with compression and encryption, which were copied onto floppy disks and cassette tapes using Intermega for the MSX platform. Floppy disks and cassette tapes distributed by Red Point were protected with custom loaders to shield the latest game releases that they obtained, formatted as ITM, and sold ahead their competitors.
