The Plaza de Mayo (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈplasa ðe ˈmaʝo]; English: May Square) is a city square and main foundational site of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was formed in 1884 after the demolition of the Recova building, unifying the city's Plaza Mayor and Plaza de Armas, by that time known as Plaza de la Victoria and Plaza 25 de Mayo, respectively. The city centre of Buenos Aires, Plaza de Mayo has been the scene of the most momentous events in Argentine history, as well as the largest popular demonstrations in the country. On the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the May Revolution in 1811, the Pirámide de Mayo (English: May Pyramid) was inaugurated in the square's hub, becoming Buenos Aires' first national monument.

Pretty safe place during the day. Police are almost at every corner. It's not place for shady activities since government workers are all around there. The big Argentine flag gets raised every morning and at dawn it comes down.
Amazing architecture, wide open space and historically and culturally rich. Stroll around to see workers, commuters and tourists all enjoying the weather and the view. The subway (Subte) takes you right down there (the D line stops at Cathedral station which is the end of the line) so you can't miss your stop. The locals are friendly and you can sit there with a sandwich and a drink and watch a little bit of a different world go past you...
I so enjoyed learning about the history of Plaza De Mayo and the historical sites are beautiful to see.
It was a great starting point to walk around the Puerto Maderas area all the way North to Torre Monumental by way of Avenue Libertador and then back South through Avenue 9 de Julio down to the Obelisk. You will get to se the Presidential residente, "Casa Rosada" and all the skyscrapers.
Today was a great day, lots and lots of people peacefully protesting against the government that immunized its allies instead of high risk groups
Beautiful and historical location to visit and learn more about the history of this location. Seeing people repaint make it seems peoples never forget. A great place to go in the morning or evening! Take a good Cortado near the location. Beautiful place and great location!
Gorgeous plaza. See to every direction and you'll have nice views to alot of monuments.
