I am so lucky i got to see the maiden on display when i was there. I heard about her when she was first discovered and always wanted to see her. The best preserved mummy in the world. Fantastic. They have 3 mummies and only one is on display at a time. All are great. I only wish i could take photos but I understand it is for the preservation and i respect that. Definable worth a visit.

One of the (if not THE) most interesting museums that Salta has to offer. The layout of each of the showcases was neatly organised, as well as the information describing them. The entirety of the museum has descriptions in both Spanish and English, which makes it easily approachable no matter where you're from. The place is, as expected, spotless and they fully respect Covid-19 protocols. Under the current circumstances, you need to book in advance if you want to visit it and the pricing was appropriate. The main reason to visit the museum is to meet the "Children of Lullaillaco", children that were "buried" during the time of the Incas and they are being cryogenically kept by the museum. It's a fascinating visit that will surely expand your knowledge of Inca culture and society.
No photos allowed inside museum, so only photos are of dogs sleeping happily in reception! Remarkable story, with recovered evidence, of Incas sacrificing children on 20,000 feet mountain tops. Remarkable artefacts, good final film. But lots of material not translated into English, or could have been five stars.
A great place not to be missed in Salta! It is quite small but gives a lot of information about the Inca history and traditions and has many very well conserved artifacts. But the most important part of the visit are the three amazingly well conserved mummies of children buried more than 500 years ago. The museum is directly connected to the conservation laboratory which keeps the mummies under controlled environment to preserved them.
One of the most interesting museum I have ever seen. It takes 20-30 min to look read the information. They exhibit one mummies if children at time i think. We have seen the little boy. Its fascinating. Just 200 pesos.
Short and sweet, but very interesting. The mummies and other artifacts are very well displayed. It is definitely worth the visit. It costs foreigners 200 pesos, so definitely reasonably priced.
Well preserved Incan mummies with artefacts. 30 minutes suffices to go round as minimal English explanations although the ones there are comprehensive enough. Admission for foreigners 200 Arg Pesos. Closes 6.30pm
Short and sweet! It offers a great quick history / culture lesson, followed by a viewing of one of the frozen Incan children (they rotate the three children on display).
