Good location but no service at all. Staff was seldom there, their talk of guiding you to cool spots in town - don't believe them. We didn't mind being our own concierge, plus some "tips" by other guests.
I had a great stay here. Beautiful building with nice views from the front rooms. Hot water. Helpful patient staff.
Very cool hostel!! The only thing is that after 7pm there's no one at the reception to help you if you need anything. I wouldn't mind working the night shift there ; )
During an internship in Buenos Aires, I stayed at V&S for a lengthy amount of time. The hostel is located in a central part of town and public transport is at your doorstep. I enjoyed spending time in the communal area as there is a lot of greenery and different places to sit and relax after a day of exploring the city. However, I did have one major problem with this hostel. During the first week, I was placed on the middle floor and had no problems at all. However, I was moved to the top floor and the first night I got bitten by beds. I am also allergic to them so my reaction was worse than the other 2 girls. The hostel is not occupied with a receptionist after 3 pm so we tried to contact the hotel owner but had to wait until the morning to let her know what happened. There was 3 of us staying in the same room, so I feel like she acted quickly and got our bags fumigated and washed all of our clothes for free. After this incident, I was moved to the very bottom floor and had no problems for the remainder of my stay. They also changed all of the mattresses and bedding on the top floor and fumigated the rooms. I had to leave my big bag in the bag room on the communal floor though in case there was still any traces of bed bugs. In saying all of this, I would recommend this hostel for a short stay in Buenos Aires.
I loved this hostel!! It's gorgeous, with a great view over a plaza and the restaurants and bakeries in the area are awesome. Our room and bathroom were so comfortable!
Being my first time traveling, I was particularly curious about how my time would be. Short answer, great! Francois and Jade behind the counter were immensely helpful to a foreigner with very little Spanish. Will definitely be staying again the next time I'm in Buenos Aires!
Great location, but extremely bad wifi... The manager told me she was going to get it fixed but didn't. It is a software settings problem in the wifi routers but she got upset with me resorting to untruths... For most of us travellers, good internet connection is essential to plan out next stay and travel plans, as well as staying connected with family or our finances. If you expect breakfast be ready to be dissapointed... coffee and tea is not breakfast. Also not having an attendant earlier than 8 am or after 6 or 7 pm is a pain. If speaking untruths becomes a habit you will get bad reviews. I moved to another place.
